week 9

Sounds From My Car Radio: Wednesday 21st September 2.12pm 3RRR

Music which captivates me...i hear this singers voice and realise she is using her throat muscles in a very particular way - it seems to come from a place far from my every day life...I wonder could our group draw from her style in some way....?

From Monday 19th September -

I create a group website for our group performance communication & location of outside influences:

...from this week my outsides will also be collated on this above site.

Friday 30th September 12.15pm City Via West Incoming Train

Buildings tower into the sky, holding the sun on their sides as it shines brightly in the early afternoon. Here is my view from the train as I travel into the city  - buildings and electric cables - the mark of humans recreating a landscape.

Friday 30th September 12.20pm City Via West Incoming Train

Cables, rails, buildings and parked cars -  all created to serve our business. All illuminated by the power of the sun.

Friday 30th September 1.30pm City Street Art

How this building's grey cement has been transformed by 'illegal' street art. It captivates me as it is intentionally out of place with the conformity of the otherwise drab street aesthetic. The colours vibrate and dance before my eyes in the brilliance of the midday sunlight. These paints were never designed with art on the manufacturers mind -  the street art represents a magnificent statement on many levels.
Friday 30th September 2.15pm City

The glimpse of skylight between an oppressive management of city buildings.

Friday 30th September 2.20pm Street Gallery City

How people discover new ways to transform the meaning of the street - and leave their mark in an attempt to connect with the outside world. This artist created his street gallery named 'Allery' heh heh...really great photographs depicting lives from a different city in another country. People stopped to look and wonder.

Friday 30th September 2.25pm City Street Art

Meta - Street Art - the street artist as bandit...is that how they do it...the whites of the paint reveal an image
and also a brightness illuminated by the sun.
Friday 30th September 2.28pm Street Art City

The sign which continues to speak despite the movement all around which continues on regardless of its threat.

Friday 30th September 2..30pm Street Art
Taking a photo of an image taking a photo....a cyclic vision...

week 8

Sunday 18th September 3.48pm Maribyrnong River

Up close to the Maribyrnong - such a tranquil view today amongst the resting rays of the warm golden sun, reflections of the trees on the glassy water and the soft, dark shadows of trees and people. The sky's mood is calm - pale blue and almost cloudless.

Sunday 18th September 3.45pm Maribyrnong River

Sunday 18th September 3.49pm Maribyrnong River

Sunday 18th September 3.50pm Maribyrnong River

Sunday 18th September 3.55pm Maribyrnong River

Sunday 18th September 3.58pm Maribyrnong River

As the evening hits us, the sun makes its presence seen in the burning bright reflection upon the water.  It is inescapable.

Sunday 18th September 4.01pm Maribyrnong River

Late afternoon sun shadowing through the trees reminds me that it is soon time to head for home as darkness and cold is about to enter the surrounds.

week 6

Tuesday 30th August 4.25pm Watergardens Shopping Centre

The packed car park of the shopping centre reveals a like minded community - an all driving, parking, shopping show. Cars are dutifully left in sequenced order, behaving properly while their owners busy themselves inside the buildings of commerce. The ominous sky looks on over head - it does not stop to park for very long, if at all..continually moving, bringing with it dark marbled white - grey cloud now, and thtreatens to pour down here or further a field.....still the sun shines on behind the moody ripples of puffy silver cloud...i want to reach out and touch it...

Tuesday 30th August 4.27pm Watergardens Shopping Centre

Tuesday 30th August 4.30pm Watergardens Shopping Centre

Tuesday 30th August 4.31pm Watergardens Shopping Centre

Sunday 4th September 2.30pm Scienceworks Spotswood

Man made 'illusion' - with lights and mirrors we can create the illusion of space and depth...something i find fascinating to look at. The colours are almost neon - and captivate me.

Wednesday 31st August 8.50am Footscray

My morning community; we share road, pollution, tail lights, electric cables lining across the sky and, today, a clear pale blue ceiling.

Thursday 1st September 12.01pm VU Footscray

The sun shines on in gold and white against the glorious blue of the sky, the buildings are helpless to escape the touch of its rays. The clump of building shadows in its glare, revealing the sharpness of its angles and its solid unrelenting form.

Thursday 1st September 12.03pm VU Footscray

Friday 2nd September 9.08am St Albans

Light of the sun illuminates our world...pierces through the clouds...and lands on the ordinary grime of my suburban city life...car fumes, street pollution, electricity wires and cables and the fundamental rule of the traffic lights - a man made light but so important to the way of things in this place...The sun may be so very far away but it reaches us through gloom and despair - offers a tranquility despite having no feelings or opinion on any matter...

Friday 2nd September 9.20am DFO Car Park Essendon

The man made bitumen 'park'- early morning - empty of cars and people  - the  adorning lamps stand exact and to attention ready to assist the shoppers pathway soon as the sun bids farewell for the day. The park lies waiting - awaiting the throngs of would be shoppers - all agreeing to change this landscape from it's former status...the bitumen smoothering over the earth that previously lay free and able to breathe. Above, the sun shines on, warming up, lighting up and bringing up the new day....

Friday 2nd September 9.26am DFO Car Park Essendon

Friday 2nd September 9.36 am DFO Essendon

*SALE*
..sale of light - an attempt to contain the sparkle and beauty of dancing light - and elevate ourselves ..and walk on this spectacle.

Friday 2nd September 9.36 am DFO Essendon

Friday 2nd September 9.40 am DFO Essendon

Friday 1st September 1.30pm Footscray

Ahh..the clear cut preciseness of signage - but the sense of humour prevails - the human - ness of good nature has placed it's stamp of 'being here' (notice the sticker on the second 'O' in 'Footscray'...something to delight the travellers and remind us all of chaos and vunerabilty.

Friday 1st September 2.45pm Sunshine North

Friday 1st September 2.45pm Sunshine North

This cloud changes the landscape mood.

Friday 1st September 2.46pm Sunshine North

Cloud obscurity - where am I?
It's like a giant puff ball - so easy to get lost in - so easy to look at and forget the troubles below on earth.

Friday 1st September 2.48pm Sunshine North
Sunday 3rd September 2.30pm Scienceworks Spotswood

Here I view the bizarre combination of 'human viewing the show of prehistoric dinosaur' - our obsession with creating something we really can not know exactly because it was before our time. The lighting is used in an attempt to make this spectacle come 'alive' - capturing a past, capturing the light to create a sense of real, to delight our senses.

Sunday 3rd September 2.45pm Scienceworks Spotswood

An eerie green glow helps transform the sense of place - and evokes a surreal-ness that is, the mechanical dinosaur.

Friday 2nd September City 10.04pm

I am drawn to the light - like a moth..I revel in the pretty blue of this electric neon strip...man illuminating the darkness - our human attempt at revealing a control, a power over our world.....
